News release 3/22/05

John Poehlman, N9TFS, of the Monroe County Repeater Association (MCRA) reports that Dwight Hazen WB9TLH is the new trustee for the 146.640 repeater and it is his call sign I.D.-ing the repeater. Newer area radio amateurs may not know that Dwight is one of the handful of volunteers who have worked tirelessly to maintain and repair the “146.640” when needed.  The reason for the trustee change is because K9OK no longer resides in the local community.

To keep you informed a web site is in the works at wb9tlh.ampr.us/146-64.html with up to date information regarding the repeater. wb9tlh.ampr.us/ is also the place to look for WXN weather information, APRS, IRLP, and Echo Link activity in Monroe county.

In the next few months the repeater is scheduled to be upgraded with a new Kenwood TKR-750 repeater and a new Arcom RC210 controller. The new controller may require some user control code changes and this information will be placed on the web site previously mentioned.

146.640 repeater continues to be funded and operated by the MCRA.  The MCRA has operated 04/64 since 1970.  Please rest assured everyone involved is committed to providing and maintaining the same excellent service area radio amateurs have enjoyed in using the 146.640 repeater.

This is Bloomington’s finest 2M repeater and is the primary frequency for ARES, RACES, Cave rescue, Wet Net, Hilly Hundred and Severe Weather nets.  Please join the MCRA and help support Monroe County's premier severe weather repeater.
